Bird Watching in

West Wales

From the Coastal Path you will see the red-legged choughs.

Skomer is the place to see Puffins in May and June.  They pop out of their burrows, almost as if ready for a photo shoot and show no fear of their human visitors.

Red kites are more and more common in the area and we often see them here at the farm.

The lake at Latchygors has resident mallards and moorhens and  from January onwards we are visited by Canada and Greylag Geese.  Over the past few years a pair of Dabchicks has nested and raised chicks and a pair of Canada Geese has nested on our little island and tried to raise their clutch of goslings. Sadly few have survived to fly off because of predators, bu the geese keep on trying.  A variety of other ducks and water birds visit the lake from time to time.

The cottage is adjacent to, and overlooks, the lake.  There is a bird table outside the cottage window for which we supply seeds and nuts.  Common visitors include sparrows, a variety of tits, dunnock, chaffinch, goldfinch, siskin, nuthatch, greater spotted woodpecker - and even jays.

Why not visit the National Wetlands centre near Llanelli?
